Mao

A biography of Mao Zedong, told from the perspective of his relationships with women. While standard biographical elements make up the bulk of the text, author Jung Chang (a woman) zeroes in on any intriguing aspects of Mao's attitudes towards women. For example, any typical biography of Mao would detail the movements of his army as he seized control of China, but it's particularly telling that his army camped outside the town where his wife and son lived (having been abandoned, frankly) and he made absolutely no effort to see them.
