Macbeth

*Macbeth* is one of Shakespeare's four great tragedies. It tells the story of General Macbeth, cousin of King Duncan of Scotland, who, driven by ambition, murdered Duncan and became king. To cover his tracks and prevent others from seizing the throne, he then successively murdered Duncan's guards, Banquo, and the wife and children of nobleman Macduff. Later, deserted by everyone, he faced the siege of Duncan's son and the English reinforcements he had brought, ultimately meeting his demise.
