There once was a country called Yugoslavia, a utopian experiment in cosmopolitanism. Now, its form no longer exists, but it has left a ghostly legacy across Eastern Europe.
From 2018 to early 2020, the author traveled to the former Yugoslavia, visiting its six former republics, meeting and parting with locals, chatting and arguing with them. Through memories from different countries and generations, the former Yugoslavia gradually emerged through different narratives. How should the new generation of this land digest its own history and build its own future?
