This book collects many of Bukowski's "alcoholic masterpieces," offering readers a glimpse into the ups and downs of the life of this poet, a self-proclaimed "Dirty Old Man," who lived with strong liquor. Bukowski had a complex and contradictory relationship with alcohol, which led him to his darkest moments as well as his happiest and brightest moments. Drinking allowed Bukowski to find solitude, but it also allowed him to be with others, to be a poet, a lover, and a friend—although this always came at a great cost.
