The Giver

The story takes place in a utopian world where people's life paths are determined from the very beginning: children are sent to designated families after birth and raised by designated parents; upon reaching adulthood, they are assigned specific jobs. This world seems perfect, with no hunger, no divorce, no unemployment, no social injustice, no war, and even no feelings of pain, but also no choice. Everyone lives in a uniform pattern, except Jonas.
At the Ceremony of Twelve, Jonas is selected for a job of significant importance to the community. He must train with a mysterious old man who calls himself the "Receiver of Memory." During his training, Jonas gradually discovers that this seemingly perfect society is built on lies and even endangers the lives of those he loves, so he decides to change everything. What awaits Jonas? Where will Jonas ultimately go?
