About Book
Where is the LGBTQ+ community in China? Throughout history, we've encountered each other in diverse settings: conferences, camps, NGO offices, courts, streets, bars, online chat rooms... Now, some of this strength is flowing overseas, continuing to make its voice heard in diasporas. The queer movement, however, is not isolated but rather intertwined with movements as diverse as women's rights and pro-Palestinian protests. We hope to showcase this intersectionality in this issue. This issue features these voices, a reminder of the colors of the rainbow, and a wish for us all to bravely embrace diversity wherever we find ourselves. QUEERING YOUR VOICE! This issue includes a brief history of the LGBTQ+ movement in China; nine articles, including reports, interviews, and translations; a comic strip; and a collection of Pride Month street photography. It draws on photographic contributions from over ten communities and the work of 15 graphic artists, all culminating in a 176-page, full-color publication.
"Mang Mang" is an independent magazine born in the wave of Chinese resistance in 2022. It was founded by a group of young partners overseas and continues to absorb creators who are concerned about Chinese issues.
The magazine focuses on overseas Chinese communities, writing about actions, connections and history in the era of diaspora.
The magazine hopes to connect Chinese and multilingual writers, allowing Chinese-language creation to flourish outside the walls of censorship. At the same time, it can also open up communication with friends from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Tibet, etc. to make up for the information black holes and value rifts caused by censorship. It also hopes to empower Chinese actors through their works and creative process, so that they can continue to think and record in their actions.
The forms of works include reporting, essays and comments, cultural arts, etc.
