About Book

Zheng Zhang Shangfang (1933-2018) was a renowned linguist and researcher at the Institute of Linguistics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. In addition to his research, Mr. Zheng Zhang began writing blog posts on Sina Blog in 2006, which have been well-received. Mr. Zheng Zhang believes that the Chinese language has a long history and has developed diverse dialects. The long-standing connections and mutual influences between Chinese and the languages ​​of various ethnic groups within China and neighboring countries have produced many interesting linguistic phenomena, but have also led to numerous unscientific interpretations and speculations, many of which are based on misinformation. Based on this, Mr. Zheng Zhang, with his keen linguist's insight, has written "some essays from the perspective of historical linguistics, attempting to provide answers and clarify the truth" based on what he observes in everyday life.
"Selected Blogs of Rouge and Yanzhi by Zheng Zhang Shangfang" contains more than 80 blog posts by Mr. Zheng Zhang from 2006 to 2017. When compiling the book, Mr. Zheng Zhang reviewed the manuscript and made revisions.
