It serves as the "Bible" of Hegel's philosophy and the key to unlocking his philosophical system. This philosophical classic profoundly influenced Marx, Heidegger, and Gadamer. Volume 1, first published in 1962 and revised in 1979, preserves the original text and facilitates research. The Phenomenology of Spirit is the first guiding work by the master of classical German philosophy, Hegel, expounding his philosophical views and methodological principles. Hegel considered this work the introduction to his philosophical system. Marx praised the Phenomenology of Spirit as "the true origin and secret of Hegel's philosophy" and "the Bible of Hegel's philosophy." Through this work, Hegel proposed that Phenomenology of Spirit is the science of the path of consciousness to "absolute knowledge" or "science" (i.e., philosophy), providing individuals with a "ladder" to climb to absolute knowledge. The Chinese translation, co-translated by He Lin and Wang Jiuxing, was published in two volumes, first in 1962 and then in 1979, by The Commercial Press. The translation of the first volume was revised when it was reprinted in 1979 to unify the translated name with the second volume. This time, the "Complete Works of He Lin" edition was compiled and published, and the modifications made in the reprint were compared. The important ones were selected and the original appearance of the first edition of the first volume was preserved in the form of annotations.
