My Strange Shrinking Parents

This story tells the story of an immigrant family in faraway Australia. A father from England and a mother from Hunan, China, repeatedly trade their height to raise their child: five centimeters for a birthday cake, eight centimeters for a year's tuition... Mum and Dad do their utmost to support their child, shrinking ever smaller to provide for their growth. In this story, small stature offers its charms and conveniences, as well as its own sorrows and hardships. They embrace their uniqueness and, through love, become giants. The book's illustrations, crafted in the style of traditional woodblock prints, exude a timeless oriental aesthetic and, like the text, possess a rich emotional atmosphere.
