【Content Introduction】
In 1848, Dostoyevsky began writing Nedochka.
In 1849, he was exiled to Siberia, where he stopped writing and the novel remained unfinished.
When the novel was first published, it had a subtitle: "A Woman's History".
The story is told from a female perspective, narrating three very different lives of the protagonist Netochka - "Childhood", "New Life" and "Mystery".
The book's archetypal character, Yefimov, bears a strong autobiographical quality. At the time, Dostoevsky was still relatively unknown, equally vain and self-deprecating, often tormented by his own morbid self-esteem. Dostoevsky's portrayal of his psychology is incredibly insightful, making him a model for the weak and frustrated.
Another shining character is Princess Katya. Dostoevsky used his tenderness to make Nedochika feel pure love and warmth here.
The story ends abruptly when Nedochka clashes with the man of her foster home. However, judging by the last few pages published at the time, Dostoevsky intended Nedochka to break free from the constraints of her family and ultimately live an independent and free life.
Each part of the book can be regarded as a part of the whole novel, or as an independent chapter.

【Celebrity Recommendation】
◆I read this book and remembered the first half for the rest of my life. I still think it's the best book, worthy of a great masterpiece. I think people should forever commemorate Dostoyevsky for it. I'll never forget Yefimov's experience; it keeps me up at night and day. And it's like there's a demon in my soul, constantly telling me: Don't waste your life, man! - Wang Xiaobo ◆I had just read this book before I saw The Green-Haired Monster. I was deeply impressed and always felt that it was my inner secret. I didn't expect to see such a similar feeling in Xiaobo's novel. At that time, I felt like my inner secret had been seen through. - Li Yinhe
