About Book

There was a cat that lived for a million years. It died a million times and lived a million times. A million people loved it, and a million people cried when it died, but it never cried even once. First it was the cat of a king, then a sailor, a magician, a thief, a lonely old woman, and a little girl. But it lived in a daze, indifferent to everything. Until one day, it became a wild cat of its own and fell in love with a beautiful white cat. Only then did it understand for the first time why it lived... Yoko Sano was born in Beijing in 1938 and spent nine years of her childhood in China. She graduated from the Department of Design at Musashino University of Art in Japan. In 1967, she studied printmaking at the University of the Arts Berlin in Germany. His major picture book works include "The Cat Who Lived a Million Times," "The Five-Year-Old Grandma," and "I Became a Christmas Tree." "The Gentleman's Umbrella" won the Sankei Children's Publishing Culture Award Recommendation, and "Papa Bear" received the Japan Picture Book Award and the Shogakukan Children's Publishing Culture Award. He has also received various awards, including the Kodansha Publishing Culture Award Picture Book Award, the Niimi Nankichi Children's Culture Award, the Kobayashi Hideo Award, and the Iwatani Kowa Literary Award. In 2003, he was awarded the Order of the Order with a Purple Ribbon by the Emperor of Japan.
