Haruomi Hosono, the legendary musician who led the internationally renowned Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO) and is a giant of contemporary Japanese music, has composed the soundtracks for such beloved films as "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind" and "Shoplifters," influencing numerous musicians active since the 1990s. In 2008, he received the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award at the Art Selection Awards, and in 2019, he received the Best Music Award at the 42nd Japan Academy Awards. Hosono not only enjoys a loyal fan base in China, but is also an idol for many professional musicians.
