Sichuanese English Textbooks from the Republican Era: English-Chinese对照

This book is a Chinese-English bilingual textbook for learning Sichuanese, compiled by the Canadian O. E. C. Kilborn over 100 years ago. While learning Chinese, the author, O. E. C. Kilborn, developed his own understanding of Sichuanese. Based on his accumulated learning experience, he believed that the study of vocabulary and sentences was particularly important. Therefore, he selected frequently used and easy-to-understand Sichuanese expressions and compiled them into a book to reinforce learning. It was also intended to help foreign nationals and Chinese medical personnel of that time learn Chinese and English. This book serves as both a preservation of historical materials and an indirect record of local Sichuan history. The original book is housed in the University of Toronto Library in Canada. The first facsimile edition was published by Sichuan People's Publishing House in 2018. This re-edition features a redesigned binding to meet current market demands.
