To all my friends: Welcome to the best bakery!
Following "Chunfu," Zhang Yue once again illustrates her ideal world, telling a fairytale about food, home, and love: the wonderful flavors of life, let's discover them together!
◎ Editor's Recommendation
☆ Stir, knead, bake: Let life be as fragrant as bread!
"When I was drawing 'Chunfu,' I wondered why the big white rabbit in the bakery would open a bakery? Maybe it learned from the 'fierce' wolf...", after "Chunfu," Zhang Yue once again depicts a small shop story in an "ideal world," using "innocent eyes" to see the beauty of "labor" and "creation" in ordinary life. In the final spread, there's also a hidden secret about "Chunfu," did you find it?
The author invites readers into the bakery, not only to enjoy aesthetic pleasure but also to explore human relationships: "finding a possible tenderness and harmony between things that seem absolutely incompatible." This soft story, like bread, hopes to touch, practice, imagine, and create with readers, with brave hearts and gentle hands, making life as fragrant as bread.
☆ Open a bakery that welcomes everyone: What's made with heart is the best!
Croissants, baguettes, donuts, bagels... A wolf is surprisingly sitting in the fragrant bakery! Mr. Wolf said: "Crunchy bread is only good bread, but 'crunchy-crunchy' bread is the best bread." The little white rabbit practiced for a long time before truly understanding the meaning of this sentence.
Chen Xiaoqing, a documentary director specializing in food, once said: "Food is the best channel for humans to understand the world." To open the "best" bakery, Mr. Wolf and the little white rabbit "buried the hatchet" and started working with all their hearts... The originally empty bakery was now filled with wonderful "crunchy-crunchy" sounds! Delicious food is not only a channel to understand the world but can also be a secret code to bridge distances. The best bakery exists to connect everyone.
☆ A coming-of-age story that breaks through traditional fairytale narratives: Let's move forward together!
In "The Best Bakery," the eccentric Mr. Wolf was "bad" in his stubborn belief that making bread "the best" was enough... until he met the little white rabbit who "exploded" her own kitchen. Mr. Wolf experienced feelings of "sadness," "happiness," and "loneliness"... From a "rigid" big bad wolf to a "gentle" Mr. Wolf, growth is learning to live in peace with the beast within!
The little white rabbit, who understands how to enjoy delicious food the most, encountered a big challenge on her quest for deliciousness - traveling with a "wolf"... A novice who exploded her kitchen "secretly worked hard" when "Mr. Wolf" wasn't looking, becoming a "magician" of life, bringing the best surprises to friends on the street! The author carefully depicts "tears" and "smiles," sharing with readers the joys and sorrows of perseverance, and the fear and love of moving forward on the path to life's ideals.
◎ Content Summary
Late at night, the little white rabbit, unable to find any delicious food, stopped and entered a mobile bakery she had never seen before... This book tells the story of the worried little white rabbit and Mr. Wolf, who become acquainted through delicious bread. In the difficult process of "teaching" and "learning," they learn to listen to the most wonderful sound of bread - "crunchy-crunchy," constantly deepening their understanding and trust in each other, and embarking on a journey to pursue their ideals together.
◎ Celebrity Recommendation
I always prefer memories intertwined with sadness and sweetness, and Mr. Wolf reminds me of myself... Mr. Wolf and the little white rabbit making bread together is also very much like an editor and author making a book together. They are difficult to satisfy, always wanting to make the best, so they constantly practice. - Arthur Hubschmid, renowned French publisher, former editor-in-chief of Happy School Children's Books
◎ Author's Self-Recommendation:
Do you like bread? I like bread.
Bread is not a strange food to me. My mother started making bread for our family a long time ago. Because my father has high blood sugar, the bread she made never had sugar and rarely had oil, making it the "worst-tasting" bread. Although those breads had little flavor, I never got tired of them, eating them from elementary school all the way through university... My mother's bread is the softest part of my childhood memories.
When I was drawing "Chunfu," I wondered why the big white rabbit in the bakery would open a bakery? Maybe it learned from the "fierce" wolf. The wolf taught the little white rabbit the best skills, and the little white rabbit brought an unprecedented liveliness to the bakery. I like this contrast, finding a possible tenderness and harmony between things that seem absolutely incompatible.
When drawing Mr. Wolf, I always wanted to portray the tenderness hidden beneath his rough exterior, and I liked his confidence in his craftsmanship. So I also started making bread, and now I can make it for my family, but I still need to work harder to make it as delicious as Mr. Wolf's bread.
