Wen Zhiyue

This aphoristic work, presented in a contemplative style, consists of forty-six fragments arranged alphabetically. The author discusses desire, examines the body, and sees the intermingling of language as an opportunity to achieve bliss. He believes that discontinuity can elicit joy, hence the use of short fragments. The relationship between language and ideology is also a major topic. This translation also includes two supplements, "Supplement" and "Literary Criticism," which include essays and fragments by the author on writing and the image.
