"War and Peace" (1866-1869) describes the entire process of the Russo-French War of 1812. It takes the activities of the characters of the four major aristocratic families at that time as clues, reflects many major historical events between 1805 and 1820, as well as the real life of all classes. It criticizes those nobles who have elegant conversation but are indifferent to the fate of the motherland, and praises the patriotism and heroism shown by the younger generation in the war. It is an epic masterpiece.
