About Book
About Book
Ye Si has become a major center of Hong Kong literature.
Liang Bingjun was a key figure in the development of Hong Kong's local poetry. He drew extensively on the influences of foreign modern poetry and Chinese new poetry since the May Fourth Movement. He was also inspired by early pioneers of Hong Kong modern and local poetry, such as Ma Lang, and thus viewed local customs from a fresh perspective. This was a positive attitude toward local customs, rich in detail, calm in tone, and free of resentment or anger.
——Huang Canran Liang Bingjun is a poet who truly practices the poetic concepts he proposed in his writing. His "poetics of discovery" echoes the Zen and postmodern views on language, that is, looking at the world in a "viewing things through things" way, restoring the original appearance of things in a concrete and detailed way in writing, rather than imposing abstract "thoughts" on things. Therefore, his tone is always soothing, consultative, and roundabout.
——Song Lin◆ Selected Poems from the Fifty Years of Liang Bingjun (Ye Si), a Shape of Hong Kong Culture◆ The Brilliance of Ordinary Things, a Collection of Regional Memories◆ Returning to the Hong Kong in His Poetry [Introduction]
This book presents a selection of Liang Bingjun's poems spanning 50 years, divided into 13 collections. These include "Fruits," "Images of Hong Kong," "Travel Poems," "Dwelling on Earth," "Lotus Leaves," "Light and Shadow of China," "Food Scenery," "Games," "Poems of Objects," "Entertainment," "Ancient Books," "Greetings," and "Ode Poems," encompassing themes and styles from different periods of his career. Additionally, an afterword by the renowned poet Huang Canran provides rich background information for readers to understand and appreciate Liang Bingjun and his poetry. This book is not only a summary of Liang Bingjun's poetic career but also an important testimony to the development of modern Hong Kong poetry.
