Small Logic

This book is the first part of the "Outline of the Encyclopedia of Philosophy," commonly known as the "Small Logic" to distinguish it from the "Greater Logic" (i.e., the "Logic"). Besides the introduction, the book is divided into three parts: Ontology, Essence, and Concepts, reflecting the basic framework of Hegel's philosophical system. Hegel's "Small Logic" is a key component of his "Encyclopedia of Philosophy." Its strength lies in its grasp of the overall outline and key points of the system, its evenly distributed material, its concise and compact writing, and its profound meaning. While initially difficult to understand, careful scrutiny reveals its profound meaning, inspiring deep thought. When his students compiled the complete works after his death, they supplemented them with student notes, making the book clear, accessible, and moving.
