The limit of reciprocating letters is the beginning.
"Ms. Ueno, why can you not feel despair about men?"·
Chizuko Ueno and Suzumi Suzuki, the most famous feminist pioneer and the most rebellious and popular writer, corresponded for a year and twelve times, each time on a different topic. This was a conversation that began with contradiction and conflict, and led to understanding and change.
"Every time I turn a page, my body temperature rises"
·
⚡ Ueno Chizuko's next masterpiece after "Misogyny" and "Feminism from Zero", for the first time she openly reveals her past that she has never revealed before. A person who always hits the mark with sharp words may have also been hurt by her own blade. Ueno admits that "I have also walked through a life full of shame and failure"
·
⚡Love and sex, marriage, men, work, independence, freedom, etc., around 12 major themes to talk about the anger and difficulties deep in women's hearts. Every woman is a survivor of life. They are confused, they resist, they pretend to be strong but are actually covered with scars.
⚡A hopeful work in an era of gender antagonism: "Ms. Ueno, why can you not feel despair about men?"
At a time when feminism is being stigmatized, Chizuko Ueno strongly hit back: "I don't mean to say 'men are hopeless anyway'.
·
⚡A hot topic work that swept the Japanese book market. "After reading this book, I think everyone will become a feminist."
Novelist Kanon Hanafuse sincerely recommends: "This book can save women!" Writer Risei Honjima praises: "Every time I turn the page, my body temperature rises."
·
"Beginning with the Limit" is a year-long correspondence between feminist pioneer Chizuko Ueno and popular writer Suzumi Suzuki.
During adolescence, Chizuko Ueno went to Kyoto alone to study, just to escape from her father and the church; at the same time, Suzuki Suzumi stepped into the world of selling her body in order to rebel against her parents.
When he was in college, Ueno participated in the vigorous student movement, but on the other side of the trench he witnessed that boys only regarded girls as tools to solve their physiological problems; Suzuki studied at the best private university in Japan, but had to seek his own value in the night world.
After her student days, Ueno considered herself an independent woman, but ended up becoming a bed partner that men could call upon at will; on the other hand, Suzuki began to write about the charm and filth of the night world, and was often attacked and criticized by women.
Today, Ueno is Japan's leading researcher on women's studies, while Suzuki has reached the limit of the night world. While questioning the past and doubting herself, she hesitates about how to take the next step.
They were 35 years apart in age and had led very different lives. In their year-long correspondence, they stabbed each other and themselves with sharp words on topics such as love and sex, marriage, work, independence, and men.

With every page I turn, my body temperature rises. Suzuki Suzumi's writing, while offering an extremely calm self-analysis, is also mingled with vivid truths, revealing undeniable emotions. —Author Riki Shimamoto Ueno Chizuko disintegrated Suzuki Suzumi, allowing her to break free from the clutches of her mother and men and begin to live as a human being. At the same time, this book is Chizuko Ueno reaching out to many women, myself included. This book can save women. —Novelist Kanon Hanafusa From beginning to end, I felt like I'd been struck by a blunt instrument. It was as if someone grabbed my collar and said, "Hey! Don't pretend you didn't see me!" After reading this book, I think there's no woman who wouldn't become a feminist. —Amazon reader I deeply felt how difficult it is for women to survive. Even so, after reading this book, I feel that being a woman is indeed a blessing. —International political scientist Rurei Miura
