A woman abandons her old life and moves alone to a small coastal cottage in the north. She writes letters to her ex-husband, who is worried about the end of the world, video calls her wandering daughter, and shares her peaceful, mundane life with them. She cautiously makes friends, tries a new relationship, and enters the lives of others. She also wants to know what stories lie in the places she never reached in her youth. Judith Hermann precisely captures something of our time: about home and roots, about memory and trust, about leaving and unfulfilled desires.
