About Book
About Book
This book is dedicated to the first generation of mainlanders who have experienced exile, and to the Taiwanese women who have bravely overcome differences and formed bonds with first generation mainlander men, experiencing both mutual support and resentment.
From the perspective of heterosexual marriages and families, this book presents the intimate relationships and identity experiences of early Mainlanders. The content of the articles allows us to see the yearning for reproduction among the dispersed and migrant people, the practice of diverse and "adaptable" families, and the appearance of homes created under different conditions. The influencing conditions include the early military system, political ideology, gender and ethnicity, patriarchy and class relations, etc. The system formed by the interweaving. This book will help everyone understand the hardships and hopes of Mainlanders in coming to Taiwan to "intermarry", "start a family", "not being able to start a family" and "homesickness". It will highlight the survival strategies and initiative demonstrated by Mainland women, Taiwanese women and Chinese marriage immigrant women under various pressures and legal regulations, as well as the views and reflections of Mainland children on their intermarried parents.
