About Book

This book uses a selection from "Three Hundred Tang Poems" by the Qing Dynasty scholar Hengtang Tui Shi (Sun Su), with the titles and order of the poems remaining unchanged. Translation into modern poetry is the primary focus. To facilitate reading and understanding, brief biographies of the poets, a concise analysis of the original works' ideological and artistic characteristics, and annotations on vocabulary and allusions have been included. This book was collaboratively completed by Wu Kunding, Tao Wenpeng, and Zhang Hougan, though they were broadly divided into different groups, resulting in natural variations in translation style. Some translations adhere closely to the original poems in terms of line length and even rhyme schemes, while others allow for unfettered imagination and creative interpretation. This approach avoids the need for an artificially imposed formula, avoiding uniformity and instead aims to achieve a fresh, lively, and vibrant effect.
