About Book

Editors recommend the "Four Books and Five Classics" and the works of various philosophers. The value and charm of classics never fades with the passage of time, and the wisdom of ancient sages and philosophers illuminates our modern lives. To build a bridge between ancient classics and modern society, Zhonghua Book Company launched the "Chinese Classics Collection" series. Since the first series was released in 2006, it has sold over 10 million copies and generated over 160 million yuan in sales, becoming the primary edition for readers to read and study classic works of Chinese studies.
To adapt to the needs of the times, the market, and readers, after careful research, Zhonghua Book Company has decided to launch an upgraded edition, increasing the number of titles from the original 50 to 60. These newly added titles are all truly classics, including beloved classics and important works suitable for teaching and learning. We believe that bookstores and readers will appreciate the upgraded "Zhonghua Classics Collection" even more.

"Three Hundred Tang Poems" is a popular collection of Tang poetry compiled by Sun Zhu and Xu Lanying, a couple from the Qing Dynasty. Since its publication in 1763, the proverb "If you read the Three Hundred Tang Poems, you'll be able to recite poetry even if you can't." It gradually replaced "A Thousand Family Poems" as the newest private school textbook. In its early days, it was widely recited in every household, becoming "a nationwide phenomenon, with nearly every household owning a copy." For over 200 years, it has continued to play a vital role in enlightenment education, cultivating aesthetic sensibilities, and nurturing tastes.
"Three Hundred Tang Poems" selects works by seventy-seven Tang Dynasty poets, totaling approximately 310 poems. The book is divided into eight sections based on genre: five-character ancient poetry, seven-character ancient poetry, five-character regulated verse, and seven-character regulated verse. Within each genre, the poets are arranged roughly according to their respective eras. The selected poems emphasize representative works by leading poets such as Li Bai, Du Fu, Wang Wei, and Li Shangyin, while also including works by lesser-known authors, and even by monks and singing girls. These poems range from passionate and inspiring to mournful and melancholic, encompassing a wide range of genres and achieving widespread popularity. Overall, they align with the contemporary teachings on poetry that emphasized "elegance," "righteousness," and "moderation."
