About Book
At the end of the last century, postmodernism, poststructuralism, and deconstructionism, represented by figures like Lyotard, Deleuze, Derrida, and Lacoux-Rabart, declared the end of philosophy, particularly ontological philosophy. It seemed as if, at that moment, we had entered an era of the death of philosophy. Contemporary French thinker Badiou, in contrast, took the opposite approach, tackling this notion of the end of philosophy. He loudly demanded, "Is philosophy over?" No, it will never end! As long as we exist in this world, philosophy will not end. Therefore, for Badiou, writing a manifesto on philosophy is essential. This superficial notion of the end of philosophy is merely a byproduct of the poetic age since Nietzsche and Heidegger. When authenticity is associated with poetry, it obscures the possibility of suturing authenticity with other truth processes (digital, revolutionary politics, love). Therefore, today, rather than evasively proclaiming the end of philosophy, it is better to boldly and openly declare: philosophy exists! Our task is to rediscover philosophy in a more complex present.
