Commentary on the Inca Royal Family

This book is an Inca account and commentary on the lives and deeds of the kings of their empire and all matters of their country. The work draws its material from three sources: the recollections of the ancient country by the author's maternal relatives, the Inca princes; the author's own observations and experiences from childhood in his native land; and quotations from the accounts of Spanish writers who had compiled Peruvian history before him. The author organically integrates these three sources to provide a comprehensive account of the history of the Inca Empire and various aspects of Inca society. He also offers his own opinions and judgments on the content and the authenticity of the Spanish writers' writings, thus forming a complete "commentary."
