About Book

Animal Farm

The plot of Animal Farm is very simple. It's an allegorical story about animals on a farm in England who, unable to bear the abuse of their human farmer, rise up in revolt. However, after the animal revolution succeeds, and under the leadership of the new pig leaders, a series of incredible events unfold: food production increases year after year, yet rations dwindle; animals fight day and night without seeing results; the windmill is destroyed by a storm, not due to poor quality, but because saboteurs infiltrated and damaged it. Even more chilling are the massacres carried out to eliminate internal enemies. Animals suspected of wrongdoing are forced to confess their crimes, and many innocent animals are brutally murdered on trumped-up charges. Could this allegory be alluding to China? Readers can't help but wonder. The answer to this question becomes clear simply by looking at the book's title page. Animal Farm was first printed and published in 1945 by a British publisher, Martin Secker & Warburg, and has been continuously reprinted since 1951 when it was included in the Penguin Classics series.
