书籍简介
Originally titled "Pai'an Jingqi," this collection of fictional novels, imitating vernacular stories, is the work of Ling Mengchu. While many of the story themes are drawn from earlier works, Ling's reinterpretations capture the social realities and contemporary spirit of the late Ming Dynasty. Completed in 1627, the seventh year of the Tianqi reign of the Ming Dynasty, the collection consists of forty volumes and forty chapters. Key chapters include "A Lucky Man Encounters a Clever Dongting Red Persian Hu Finger that Breaks a Crocodile's Shell," "Cheng Yuanyu Compensates Qian Shiyi Niang for Her Store, and Yungang Lets Tan Xia Go," "Li Gongzuo Cleverly Interprets Xiao'e's Dream and Cleverly Captures the Thief on the Boat," and "Zhang Liu'er's Enchantment of a Trap, and Lu Hui Niang's Immediate Decision to the End."
