About Book

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of China's polar expedition, Hunan Science and Technology Press has re-released the Penguin Ice Book: Where is My Home? Using upgraded temperature-dependent inks and hand-printed silk-screen technology, this magical book, whose contents change with the temperature, is made.
In "Penguin Ice Book: Where is My Home?", we follow the perspective of a charming penguin, experiencing its longing for and confusion about home. The book cleverly utilizes the characteristics of an ice book, with the penguin's home gradually disappearing as the pages melt, vividly demonstrating the threat global warming poses to the ecological environment. This book is more than just a children's book; it is a profound exploration of home and the meaning of life.
How remarkable is this book? Its creative ideas won the 2017 Bronze Lion for Entertainment at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, the advertising industry's Oscars. It also won the Gold Award at the 2018 Asia Pacific Advertising Festival, becoming the first of four gold awards won in China. Even before its publication, it has already sparked a wave of creative integration in the global children's book publishing industry.
This book is the world's first "disappearing" thermochromatic children's picture book. Through a unique experiential approach, it allows children aged 3 to 10 to deeply understand the devastation global warming is wreaking on animals in the Arctic and Antarctic. The story follows a penguin family on an Antarctic iceberg. Losing their home due to melting glaciers, they are forced to embark on a difficult journey to find a new home with their polar bear brothers.
The Penguin Ice Book is printed with a new heat-sensitive ink. After 30 minutes in the freezer, the contents and colors of the book appear. As the temperature rises during reading, the contents gradually fade until they disappear completely. This technology perfectly complements the story, fully simulating real-life environmental conditions. It allows children to feel the melting of glaciers and experience firsthand the harm that global warming is causing to the environment.
This book has been selected as an excellent environmental reading book by many preschool education institutions.
