These works either focus on family relationships such as those between spouses and parents and children, or depict women who appear vulgar but have pure hearts, or offer scathing satire of the hypocrisy of literati such as writers and editors, as well as the bureaucratic class. Some gaze at the shattered or even insane souls of the postwar era, some lament the inability to refuse people, and some speak for the weak whose lives are tragic due to recklessness and weakness.
