All the nights in the world

This book compiles the stories of four heartbroken individuals: "All the Nights in the World," "Fragrant Grass in the Swamp," "Grassland," and "Laba Night in Bukilan Town." "All the Nights in the World" is Chi Zijian's third work to win the Lu Xun Literature Prize. The protagonist of the novel, after the death of her magician husband, experiences the grief of separation. On her journey of healing, she witnesses the suffering of all beings and glimpses the various forms of human sorrow. Everyone is trapped in their own pain, but it is compassion that allows this pain to be seen and healed. The stories hidden in those sad nights also emerge in "Fragrant Grass in the Swamp," "Grassland," and "Laba Night in Bukilan Town." The stories take place in grasslands, swamps, and even in a small tavern in the remote valley of the Greater Khingan Mountains in the town of Blanqui. However, for those with pasts and stories in their hearts, no matter where they are, as their hidden sorrows are revealed and shared, sighs and laments arise from their shared loneliness.
