About Book

The Wizard of Oz

A sudden tornado whisks Dorothy, a young girl living with her aunt and uncle on the Kansas prairie, into a strange and magical land.

In that land of magic, she meets a Scarecrow who wants a brain to be smart, a Tin Woodman who wants a heart to know love, and a Cowardly Lion who wants to be brave.

To achieve their respective dreams, they journey together to the castle of the Great Wizard of Oz, hoping his magic can grant their wishes.

The journey to achieve their desires is never smooth, and Oz doesn't intend to help them so easily.

As the four companions constantly encounter and solve problems on their journey, they uncover the secrets of the various magical lands and grow…

More than a century ago, when American children's author L. Frank Baum wrote this story, his wish was particularly simple: every child's love for imagination-filled stories is almost innate, and he hoped to create a modern fairy tale solely to make children happy, "retaining the wonder and joy and eliminating the heartache and nightmares," and of course, those annoying preachings.

Evidently, he successfully achieved his wish. The fantastical plotlines in "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" all demonstrate the powerful magic of imagination to young readers, while also allowing every child to quietly grow up alongside the four companions on their quest for dreams.

Lisbeth Zwerger, who has illustrated many classic works and won the Hans Christian Andersen Award, has added new colors to this classic story with her exquisite brushwork.
