About Book
About Book
"Three Biographies" is one of Zweig's representative biographies.
Stefan Zweig selected three writers from the world literary world as subjects for his research, examining their lives and works through the lens of psychoanalysis in their literary works. These writers were the Italian writer Casanova, the French writer Stendhal, and the Russian writer Tolstoy. Zweig believed that these three writers represented three distinct stages of creation, each one rising higher than the next. Casanova represented the primitive stage, his works simply describing his life experiences, reciting them on paper without comment or analysis. Stendhal, on the other hand, represented the psychological stage. Tolstoy went a step further, entering the moral and religious stage.
