About Book

Gravity's Rainbow

Gravity's Rainbow is more than just a divinely inspired encyclopedia. Its profound prophetic vision of the world and its sense of the future endow it with enduring weight and value. Over the decades, it has become a literary marvel, constantly provoking readers and inspiring cool, avant-garde ideas, waiting for future readers to challenge it.
Like many postmodern novels, Gravity's Rainbow lacks a plot. The book consists of scattered episodes and the author's specious arguments, covering topics ranging from modern physics and rocket engineering to advanced mathematics, sexual psychology, and sexual deviance. The novel revolves around the German V-2 rocket. Following the V-2 attack on London, both American and British intelligence sought to uncover its secrets. They discovered that the locations where American officers engaged in sexual activity often coincided with the impact of the rockets. This led to a wave of research that captivated and entangled numerous individuals. One officer, a student of Pavlovian theory, even believed the American officer possessed a life-or-death switch in his head. He decided to exploit his telepathic abilities and send him behind enemy lines to uncover the secrets of the rockets. The novel then devotes considerable space to the sadistic and perverse sexual practices of the German officer, expounding on the absurd theory that technology and sexual desire are inextricably linked, each one leading to death. The novel also proposes the "heat death" theory, which states that once the universe's heat energy is exhausted, it will cool and freeze, and the entire world will freeze. The author believes that all activities in human society can also be explained by the law of "heat death," and that all kinds of enthusiasm will also cool and die after the heat energy is exhausted. "Gravity's Rainbow" refers to the arc formed by a rocket launch, which destroys everything. The author believes it is a symbol of death and also a symbol of the modern world, hence the name of the book.
