【Content Introduction】
In 1934, Austrian artist and writer Christiane Ritter journeyed alone to the Svalbard Islands, located within the Arctic Circle in Norway. Along with her husband, Hermann, and explorer Karl, she would spend a year in the polar regions. Nearly a century ago, the polar regions were virtually isolated from the outside world, and the most important thing each day was to think about how to survive.
To drink, they must forage for snowwater. To stay warm, they risk their lives, battling wits and courage with polar bears... Ritter captures this polar excursion with keen insight. Before embarking on this journey, she had no idea what life would hold. But after enduring enduring storms, close encounters with animals, and endless nights, she began to reflect on the Arctic's meaning to her and the true meaning of life. What does the Arctic mean to her, and to us?
