About Book

She dropped out of school, was abducted and sold, but she was not crushed by fate to the bottom of society. She was illiterate, but spoke out loudly about her "animal-like fate." A woman named Abao described her
She was born in a poor Miao village in southeastern Guizhou. "Abao" is her Miao name. After her mother died when she was young, her life has been one of suffering and hardship. As a child, her stepmother prevented her from going to school. In her teens, she worked as a nanny, got married, had children, and worked to support her family. She was abducted and sold at the job market, and was taken into custody while trying to escape. When she returned home, her husband had already found a "new person" to move in... Living at the bottom of society was difficult, and several serious illnesses in her family consumed her entire savings. She moved from place to place, remarried after her husband's death, was defrauded, and bullied. Even when she was old and unable to work, she still had to take care of her daughter's children...
She said, "I am a woman with a very miserable life. Every time I think about the suffering I have endured, I cry. But I don't blame anyone else, I only blame my own bad luck."
Thinking in this way, A Bao never complained about his fate. He just endured it silently, gritted his teeth, held on to the belief that "good will be rewarded" and "live", and went all out to overcome one difficulty after another.
Abao is almost illiterate, so she uses the voice-to-text function on her mobile phone to write out her story by hand.
She just wanted to tell her daughters and granddaughters what she had experienced in her life, and hoped that they would not have to suffer like she did.
This is a woman's struggle.
This is even more of a person's nobility.
Editor's Recommendation:
From the perspective of sociology and anthropology, "A Bao" is a personal narrative about the fate of the lower-class population in China's reform and opening-up era. The protagonist's efforts and struggles after moving from the countryside to the city, and the various life difficulties and solutions he faced, are no less than the writing of a serious anthropological field record.
From a literary perspective, this is a true account of a personal life history—living without leaving any energy behind.
