A collection of lectures. In the fall of 1967, Borges, at the invitation of Harvard University's Norton Lectures, delivered six lectures on the status of poetry, metaphorical patterns, the relationship between fiction and poetry, and phonology and translation. After the lecture tapes had lain untouched in a library for over thirty years, they were compiled and published by Kellen-André Mihales, then associate professor in the Department of Modern Languages ​​and Literature at the University of Western Ontario. The collection is rich in citations, covering numerous literary phenomena from ancient times to the present day, yet possesses the informality of a colloquial text, flowing freely and unrestrainedly.
