📖Synopsis
In a quiet alley in Moscow, there stands an old house. Climb six flights of stairs, turn left, and you'll find the Muromtsev family's home. On a night in October 1902, we step into their home and stay there for exactly 100 years. We meet generations of the Muromtsev family, as well as their neighbors and friends; we witness their reunions and partings, joys and sorrows, hopes and losses, experiencing everything that many ordinary Russian families went through during that era.
This family history reflects the history of Russia in the 20th century. This history is narrated not only by the protagonists of this book but also by their objects: furniture, clothing, tableware, books, toys, and more. Objects preserve the imprint of the era in which they were made and used, leaving traces of time. They bear witness to history that was not written in textbooks but is crucial to us, and they also bear witness to the stories of every family, every friend, and each one of us.
