About Book

Use spirituality to activate history, promote the power of life, and carry forward the national spirit, giving Chinese contemporary war novels a new look.
Through this novel, Mo Yan placed his "Gaomi Northeast Township" on the map of world literature;
Selected as one of the "Top 100 Chinese Novels of the Century" by Asia Weekly;
Selected by WORLD LITERATURE TODAY as one of the "40 Outstanding Works of the World in the Past 75 Years";
The original novel of the movie and TV series "Red Sorghum".
Red Sorghum, a 1986 novel by Mo Yan, the 2012 Nobel Prize winner in Literature and a member of the bestselling "Complete Novels of Mo Yan," has been newly revised and upgraded. It is part of the revised edition of the "Complete Novels of Mo Yan" series. It is a monumental contribution to Chinese literature, and indeed to world literature. It was selected as one of the "Top 100 Chinese Novels of the Century" by Asia Weekly and one of the 40 outstanding works of the past 75 years by the prestigious British and American journal WORLD LITERATURE TODAY.
Through my own narration, the novel depicts the magnificent, heroic, and tragic stories of my ancestors in Northeast Gaomi Township during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. While they bravely fought against the brutal Japanese invaders, they also engaged in epic and moving love stories. The novel also reveals the conflicts that arise when human emotions are oppressed by secular rules.
"The process by which historical figures and events are passed down orally among the people is actually a process of legend. History is written by people, and heroes are created by people. When people are dissatisfied with reality, they yearn for the past; when people are dissatisfied with themselves, they worship their ancestors. My novel Red Sorghum is probably something of this kind." - Mo Yan
