About Book
About Book
The non-existent utopia creates the real existence space of Yibangtu.
Because of utopia, we criticize and reconstruct our living space.
Redefine it, enchantment and disenchantment, utopia.
Ever since French philosopher Foucault defined the concept of "heterotopia" time and space to describe the strange gaps in the complex reality of today, subsequent writers and readers have had a maze of intersecting paths to navigate.
As a maze enthusiast, poet and writer Liao Wai-tong wrote this guide not as a map for literary youth, but rather as a hope to get lost with everyone in the complex world of texts, because getting lost is also a kind of happiness, which is the pursuit of 21st-century literature.
"A Guide to Utopias/Reading Volume" is divided into three parts. The first part focuses on resistance: how modern people achieve independence through resistance, and how they find the possibility of transcending reality through engagement with it. From Camus to Haruki Murakami, these writers offer insightful insights. The second part focuses on poetry and poets, which offer the greatest imaginative power for everyday life, becoming wormholes into the spiritual world. The authors themselves are poets, sharing their own perspectives and offering insights from their own experiences. The third part focuses on Chinese literature in general, offering both unique insights into topical works and the rediscovery of escapees from literary history. The section on Hong Kong literature, in particular, opens the door to a secret garden for Taiwanese readers.
Through the utopia of text, what we ultimately seek is the liberation of thought.
