About Book
I once heard a unique perspective from Mr. Chen Danqing in his lecture, "Who is Lu Xun?" He said, "The distortion of Lu Xun is a major public case in modern China." The unquestionable and unobjectionable praise and exaltation of Lu Xun's works for "political correctness" has led to an oversimplification of the depth of his works and his personal charm. His rich, elegant vocabulary and witty prose are often overlooked by later generations. Perhaps we have truly missed out on a truly endearing Lu Xun.
It's true that Lu Xun had a clear distinction between love and hate, but that doesn't mean he lacked emotion, nor did he lack his gentle, loving, and cunning side. He also had a special affection for people, animals, his hometown, and nature. It would be unfair to interpret the entirety of Lu Xun's works based solely on certain aspects.
This edition of "Dawn Blossoms Plucked at Dusk" attempts to depoliticize, truly embodying the richness of Lu Xun's works. It features a selection of 48 accessible, beautifully written essays from the Complete Works of Lu Xun. The book is divided into four parts: the first, "Dawn Blossoms Plucked at Dusk," captures the beautiful memories of a lifetime; the second, a selection of Lu Xun's casual prose, depicting his leisure time enjoying kites, autumn leaves, and the snowy Jiangnan landscape; the third, his humorous and captivating discussions of history, both ancient and modern; and the fourth, the memories of people and events, serenely expressed through his pen.
The living Lu Xun is so lovable, you should have liked him earlier.
