He inherited his father's business, selling boza on the streets of Turkey. Like those who lived in the desolate areas outside the bustling city, he longed to get rich. But luck seemed to never favor him. He watched his relatives become wealthy and settle down in Istanbul; while he spent three years writing love letters to a girl he had only met at a wedding, he ended up eloping with her sister. In his middle age, Mevlut worked a variety of jobs on the streets of Istanbul: yogurt vendor, chickpea and chicken rice vendor, parking lot attendant...
