About Book
About Book
A tribute to Qidengsheng, a pioneer who transcends time. His creative journey reveals a fantastic and wonderful song of life. His deep black eyes,
This established the classic status of The Seventh Student in Taiwanese modernist literature.
The book collects twelve short stories and novellas published between 1966 and 1967, many of which later became popular masterpieces, such as "I Love Black Eyeballs", "Release the Rats", and "Mental Patient". The works maintain Qi Dengsheng's unique novel language style, and the themes specifically focus on marginalized characters trapped in the despair of humanity, giving them an appearance different from the general literary tradition or stereotypes.
Qi Dengsheng said in his preface: "The characteristics of the rhythm of the sentences can fully represent the life of the writer's work. The value of literature is not to be found in those deliberately constructed details, especially in themes that unilaterally describe a certain consciousness." Through this series of solid creations, he put his unique literary beliefs into practice, which not only surprised and subverted the readers at the time, but also established his unique figure in the Taiwanese literary world.
