This book is a popular science work on genetics. The first part introduces the latest advances in genetics, particularly the results of genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and their widespread applications, including explaining differences in height and weight, predicting disease, and academic success. The second part is dedicated to establishing a new ethical framework for genetics. Drawing on her own experience as a mother, the author argues why refusing to acknowledge the power of genes perpetuates the myth of meritocracy and why, to create a fair society, we must acknowledge the role of genetic luck.
