About Book
About Book
"Call to Arms" is Lu Xun's first collection of short stories. In 1918, at the height of the New Culture Movement, Lu Xun's first vernacular novel, "Diary of a Madman," was inspired by a conversation with his old friend "Jin Xinyi" (Qian Xuantong) about the "iron house." By 1922, as the tide of the May Fourth Movement receded, Lu Xun, at the invitation of Chen Duxiu, published a collection of his previous stories. His goal was to "cry out" for the New Culture Movement and to offer comfort to those "galloping warriors" in the struggle, encouraging them to move forward fearlessly.
The new edition of "Call to Arms" fully includes the fourteen novels written by Lu Xun from 1918 to 1922, a self-preface, and a long reading note written by Mr. Chen Danqing specifically for the new edition.
