Hilde Domin (1909-2006), a renowned contemporary German-Jewish poet. Her poetic language is concise and unadorned, imbued with gentle power, presenting profound and melancholic imagery. Subsequently, she published poetry collections including "Returning Ship" (1962), "This Place" (1964), "Cave Portrait" (1968), "I Want You" (1970), and "The Tree Still Blooms" (1999). In addition to poetry, Domin also authored a novel, "The Second Heaven," several collections of essays, and literary criticism. In the latter half of her life, Domin achieved remarkable literary success, receiving important literary awards such as the Heine Literary Prize, the Rilke Literary Prize, the Nelly Sachs Literary Prize, and the Meersburg Droste Literary Prize. From 1987 to 1988, Domin was the featured speaker for the renowned "Frankfurt Poetics Lectures," delivering a series of lectures titled "Poetry as a Moment of Freedom." In her later years, Domin was honored with the title of honorary citizen of the city of Heidelberg, and the distant Dominican Republic awarded her an Order of Merit for Outstanding Achievement.
