About Book

This collection of "Single Reading" is a sequel to the acclaimed bestseller "Single Reading 26: True Stories from Around the World." "True Stories from Around the World II" features translations of six of the shortlisted works for the 2021 and 2023 editions of the Swiss True Story Prize, the first global journalist award. These stories explore a pair of enemies in Guantanamo Bay, the Greater Tehran Prison in Iran, a German father's story of sexual assault, a Spanish man who passed away during the pandemic, a Polish protester of memory culture, and the Rohingya people of Myanmar who have experienced repeated exile.
There is a sentence in the book: "You have to fight for the things that are being erased from history." These true stories are fighting for the sake of history. They remind the world again that records are important for all victims, survivors, and innocent people.
In addition to these six articles, this issue of "Single Reading" also includes a new work by Chinese journalist Jin Jin focusing on Cambodian fraud practitioners, as well as Palestinian photographer Hassan Arzanin's mobile phone photos of displaced lives.
