Why hasn't everything disappeared?

This book includes three essays by the renowned French thinker Jean Baudrillard: "Carnival and Cannibals: A Game of Worlds Against Each Other," "Ventriloquism at the Conclave," and "Why Hasn't Everything Disappeared?" The author conceives of modernity as an adventure that began in Western Europe and then unfolded as a vast farce, replayed across the globe wherever Western religious, technological, economic, and political values ​​were imported. Under the global monopoly or hegemony of media, virtual reality, and the internet, human existence can only be achieved at the cost of one's own demise. Immortality can only be achieved at the cost of one's technological disappearance and assimilation into the digital order.
