About Book

"Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and roar at the close of its days;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light."
★A genius of English poetry who subverts tradition, creating madness and intoxication with words and rhymes★The verses that appear repeatedly in Nolan's film "Interstellar" are written by him; Bob Dylan changed his last name because of him; highly praised by many cultural celebrities!
★The 91 poems that the poet intended to leave behind are now collected in their entirety for the first time. Newly revised and fully annotated. [Introduction]
Dylan broke with the rationalist undertones of British poetry, infusing himself with a Gothic savagery, expressing the vitality of nature and the rhythm of human nature. His unique "process poetics," centered around the themes of life, desire, and death, drew upon Christian theological revelation, metaphysical mysticism, Welsh heptaphone and homophony, and the Druidic legacy of Celtic culture and beliefs. Throughout his life, he creatively employed a variety of verbal devices, his hybrid surrealist style opening a new chapter in the history of British and American poetry. A rebellious cultural icon of a generation, he remains forever etched like a meteor across the gloomy skies of the Cold War era.
On the eve of the poet's unexpected death in 1952, he selected 91 poems he wished to preserve and compiled them into this collection. Translator Hai'an conducted a comprehensive revision, adding three previously untranslated long poems to form this new annotated edition.
