About Book

There are millions of cats in Cat City, and there are also millions of cats underground. The only difference is that there is no day and night underground, just complete darkness. The cats above ground all wear the same clothes, live in the same houses, and eat the same food... Whereas the cats underground, who cannot see each other, live diverse lives, wearing colorful clothes, living in various houses, and eating different foods... One day, an inch of light shone underground, and the cats there slowly began to change... "An inch of light" metaphorically refers to other people's "gaze" or "opinions." Before the "inch of light" shone underground, the cats were unconstrained and flamboyant. But after the "inch of light" shone, the cats could see each other. They began to care about what others thought, and gradually, they became more cautious and grew increasingly similar to each other. In the end, although "everyone became the same," there are still one or two unique cats in the illustration waiting for young readers to discover.
